Easiest Way to Dry Shoes - Using Newspaper!

Why using Newspaper to Dry Shoes is my favorite way

Here’s my disclaimer, this method isn’t as fast as if you were to dry shoes in the dryer.
However, if the idea of throwing soccer cleats into your dryer makes you a little hesitant, then this is the perfect way to dry your shoes.
There will be no loud thumping coming from the laundry room for the next few hours & your dryer will not have a plastic, smelly-feet odor for several days.

Great Hack for when your Away from Home

It’s also great for those times you don’t have access to a dryer. You can do this anywhere you can find newspaper.
This hack is great for times when school shoes are wet & you need them the next morning. Or for cleats at rainy soccer or baseball tournaments. Even if you don’t have enough time to completely dry the shoes between games, it definitely will help absorb most of the moisture.
It’s also great if you are traveling and need to dry out shoes for the next day. Simply grab a newspaper from the lobby and you should have dry shoes by morning.
Let’s take a look at the steps to this drying shoes hack.

Clean the Wet Shoes

First, if the shoes are wet, you might as well go ahead and clean them.
Rinse any mud and grass off the outside, trying to not get the inside of the shoe any wetter.
A toothbrush and a bit of dish soap work great to scrub the little crevices around the bottom of shoes.
Rinse all the soap off and pat the shoes dry with a paper towel or rag.

Using newspapers to dry wet shoes

Now you have clean shoes, but they are definitely still wet.
First, make sure you unite the laces and pull them out loosely from around the tongue of the shoe. This will help you be able to fit more newspaper into the shoe.
Also, if the sole of the shoe can come out, take it out and wrap it in newspaper as well.

Next, stuff newspaper into the shoe, trying to fill it up all the way to the toe. The more newspaper you are able to fit, the more water it will absorb.

One option is to also wrap newspaper around the outside of their shoes.
If you do this, use rubber bands to secure the newspaper so that it fits nicely against the outside of the shoes.
I’ve never tried this method, but it makes sense that it would dry the outside faster as well
